Dithering gallery
Every algorithm and palette in DitherImage, applied to the same test images so you can compare them directly. All images were rendered by the same engine that runs in the tool.
Algorithms on a landscape (1-bit)
A sunset with smooth sky gradients, a bright sun and reflections — a tough test for any dithering method. Notice how ordered (Bayer) methods produce regular patterns while error-diffusion methods produce organic noise.

Lit objects with highlights and soft shadows show how each algorithm handles curved surfaces and tonal transitions.

Threshold (no dither)Gradient and sphere test
A linear gradient reveals how evenly an algorithm reproduces every tone; the sphere reveals texture and directional artifacts.

The same still life converted to each palette. Ramp palettes (Black & White, Game Boy, Sepia, gray, duotone) map brightness; color palettes (PICO-8, CGA, C64) match the nearest color.
