Fujifilm X-T5 crop factor: 1.53×
The X-T5 pairs Fujifilm’s 23.5 × 15.6 mm APS-C sensor with 40.2 megapixels — the highest resolution in the X series, packed into the same 1.53× format. Its 23.5 × 15.6 mm sensor has a 28.21 mm diagonal, so lenses frame 1.53× tighter than on full frame.
A 23 mm lens on APS-C (1.53× crop) frames like a 35 mm lens on full frame. At f/1.4 it gives the depth of field of about f/2.1 there — but exposure stays the same as f/1.4.

Sensor size and crop factor
Crop factor is the full-frame diagonal (43.27 mm) divided by the sensor diagonal. For the X-T5: √(23.5² + 15.6²) = 28.21 mm, and 43.27 ÷ 28.21 = 1.53.

Equivalent focal length and aperture for Fujifilm X lenses
The full-frame equivalent is the focal length × 1.53. The DoF-equivalent aperture (f-number × 1.53) describes depth of field and total light at the same framing; exposure — shutter speed and ISO — is set by the real f-number as usual. Hyperfocal distances use a 0.020 mm circle of confusion.

What is different about the X-T5
Fujifilm’s lens line-up is designed around the crop: the XF 23mm is the "35 mm" street lens, the 33mm the "50 mm" normal and the 56mm the "85 mm" portrait lens. Computed with the X-T5’s published sensor size they come out at 35, 50 and 86 mm equivalents. The XF 56mm F1.2 gives the background blur of about f/1.8 on full frame — the reason it is Fujifilm’s best-known portrait lens.
What is unique to the X-T5 is pixel density. 40.2 MP on APS-C means pixels of about 3.0 µm, the same pitch as a 95 MP full-frame sensor would have. At 100% view, diffraction softening starts to show from around f/5.6–f/8, so landscape shooters who print large usually stay near f/5.6–f/8 and use the hyperfocal distances below (which assume a normal print; halve the circle of confusion for pixel-level work).
FAQ
What is the crop factor of the Fujifilm X-T5?
1.53×. The 23.5 × 15.6 mm sensor has a 28.21 mm diagonal, and 43.27 ÷ 28.21 = 1.53. The maker rounds it to 1.5×.
What is the full-frame equivalent of the Fujifilm XF 16–80mm F4 R OIS WR?
24–122 mm in field of view, with the depth of field of about f/6.1–f/6.1 on full frame. Exposure does not change: f/4 still needs the same shutter speed and ISO as f/4 on any camera.
What does the Fujifilm XF 23mm F1.4 R LM WR equal on full frame?
About 35 mm f/2.1: the field of view of a 35 mm lens and the depth of field of f/2.1 on full frame. Its hyperfocal distance at f/8 on the X-T5 is 3.33 m (10.9 ft).
Does the X-T5’s 40 MP sensor change the crop factor?
No. Crop factor depends only on the sensor’s physical size. The X-T5 has the same 23.5 × 15.6 mm sensor size, and the same 1.53× crop, as 26 MP Fujifilm bodies; it simply divides that area into smaller pixels, which gives more detail and more room to crop afterwards.
