Sony a6700 crop factor: 1.55×
The a6700 is Sony’s flagship APS-C camera, with a 26 MP back-illuminated sensor and in-body stabilisation. Its 23.3 × 15.5 mm sensor has a 27.98 mm diagonal, so lenses frame 1.55× tighter than on full frame.
A 15 mm lens on APS-C (1.53× crop) frames like a 23 mm lens on full frame. At f/1.4 it gives the depth of field of about f/2.1 there — but exposure stays the same as f/1.4.

Sensor size and crop factor
Crop factor is the full-frame diagonal (43.27 mm) divided by the sensor diagonal. For the a6700: √(23.3² + 15.5²) = 27.98 mm, and 43.27 ÷ 27.98 = 1.55. The calculator uses the generic APS-C (1.5×) format (1.53×); the tables below use the Sony a6700’s own sensor size (1.55×), so equivalents differ by 1%.

Equivalent focal length and aperture for Sony E lenses
The full-frame equivalent is the focal length × 1.55. The DoF-equivalent aperture (f-number × 1.55) describes depth of field and total light at the same framing; exposure — shutter speed and ISO — is set by the real f-number as usual. Hyperfocal distances use a 0.019 mm circle of confusion.

What is different about the a6700
Sony publishes the a6700’s sensor as 23.3 × 15.5 mm — a touch smaller than the 23.5 × 15.6 mm it lists for the a6400 and ZV-E10. That moves the computed crop factor from 1.53× to 1.55×. It is a 1% difference that you will never see in a photo, but it explains why careful equivalence charts for the a6700 come out slightly longer than those for older a6000-series bodies.
Unlike the a6400, the a6700 has 5-axis in-body stabilisation, which also steadies unstabilised primes such as the Sigma f/1.4 series and the E 15mm f/1.4 G. For wildlife, the E 70–350mm G reaches a 543 mm equivalent field of view in a lens that weighs well under a kilogram — the main reason many birders choose an APS-C body.
FAQ
What is the crop factor of the Sony a6700?
1.55×. The 23.3 × 15.5 mm sensor has a 27.98 mm diagonal, and 43.27 ÷ 27.98 = 1.55. The maker rounds it to 1.5×.
What is the full-frame equivalent of the Sony E 18–135mm f/3.5–5.6 OSS?
28–209 mm in field of view, with the depth of field of about f/5.4–f/8.7 on full frame. Exposure does not change: f/3.5 still needs the same shutter speed and ISO as f/3.5 on any camera.
What does the Sony E 15mm f/1.4 G equal on full frame?
About 23 mm f/2.2: the field of view of a 23 mm lens and the depth of field of f/2.2 on full frame. Its hyperfocal distance at f/8 on the a6700 is 1.50 m (4.91 ft).
Is the a6700 crop factor different from the a6400?
Only on paper: Sony lists 23.3 × 15.5 mm for the a6700 and 23.5 × 15.6 mm for the a6400, giving 1.55× and 1.53×. Both are marketed as 1.5×, and lenses frame practically the same on both bodies.
