SSA to SRT converter
Convert SubStation Alpha v4 (.ssa) files — the predecessor of ASS, still common in older releases — into SubRip (.srt).
Move subtitles by a fixed amount when every line is off by the same delay.
Seconds (2.5), milliseconds (1500ms) or a time (00:00:02,500). Subtitles appear too early → Later.
For subtitles that drift. Pick two cues far apart and enter when each should appear.
Rescale times when the subtitle was made for a video with a different frame rate.
The file open now is part 1 / language 1.

How to convert SSA to SRT
- Open the SSA file. Click Open subtitle file or drop your .ssa file onto the tool. You can also paste the text.
- Choose SRT. “SubRip (.srt)” is preselected in the Save as menu.
- Fix anything else (optional). Shift or sync the timing, repair the encoding or clean up overlaps before saving.
- Download. Click Download to save the .srt file in UTF-8, or Copy to paste it elsewhere.
What changes when you convert SSA to SRT
SSA uses a [V4 Styles] section and a Marked field instead of Layer in each event; the converter reads both layouts and keeps every Dialogue line’s text and timing. Override tags in braces are removed, except italic, bold, underline and color, which become SRT tags.
The legacy \a alignment codes used by SSA (5–7 for the top of the screen) are recognized, so signs at the top keep an {\an8} tag in the SRT output.
If the file shows garbled accents or symbols, pick the right encoding in the file bar — many SSA files predate UTF-8.

FAQ
What is the difference between SSA and ASS?
ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha, v4+) extended SSA with layers, more style options and more override tags. Both use the same overall structure and centisecond timing.
Can I convert SSA to ASS?
Yes — open the SSA file and choose ASS as the output. A fresh v4+ header with a Default style is written.
Are my subtitle and video files uploaded?
No. Files are opened and processed by JavaScript in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so unreleased or private material stays private.
