ASA weighs about 1.07 g/cm³ — a touch heavier than ABS and lighter than PLA. It usually costs $20–35 per kilogram, so ASA parts cost roughly 20–40% more in material than the same part in PLA, but they keep their color and strength outdoors for years.
Like ABS, ASA wants a hot bed and an enclosure, so expect more electricity per hour than PLA and allow a higher failure buffer while you tune the first few prints. Once dialled in, ASA warps a little less than ABS.
For outdoor parts, wall thickness matters more than infill: extra perimeters keep water out and add stiffness. Try 1.6–2.0 mm walls in the calculator and watch how the weight changes.
