About mosaic crochet charts
Overlay mosaic crochet uses only one color per row. Rows alternate between color A and color B, and the pattern appears where a double crochet is dropped into the front loop of the stitch two rows below, covering the row in between with the current color.
That rule limits what a mosaic can show: a dropped stitch cannot sit directly on top of another one, the first rows have nothing to drop into, and the edge stitches are plain single crochet. The maker applies those rules for you and reports how many squares had to change, so you can see how faithful the chart is to your picture.
Bold, graphic images with clear shapes — letters, geometric motifs, silhouettes — translate best. Photographs lose too much in two colors; use the C2C or tapestry modes for those.
Tips
- Use high-contrast two-color artwork
- Odd widths keep motifs centered
- Read the × squares as "dc in front loop two rows below"

Is it free? Do my pictures get uploaded?
It is free with no sign-up or watermark. Pictures are processed by your browser on your own device and never uploaded.
Can I choose my own yarn or bead colors?
Yes. Pick a built-in palette or choose Custom and set each color with a color picker. You can also click any swatch in the color list to replace that color with your own.
Can I make Perler or Hama bead patterns?
Yes. Switch to Fuse beads: the design is split into 29 × 29 pegboards with bead counts per color and per board, and each board prints on its own page. We are not affiliated with any bead brand.
