About picture to pixel art for crochets
A graphghan is any blanket worked from a graph, where each square becomes one stitch or block. Pixel art — characters, icons, logos — is the easiest thing to crochet from a graph because it already has hard edges and only a few flat colors.
Choose the width in squares that matches your project: 30–50 squares for a pillow or a wall hanging, 60–120 for a blanket. Lower the number of colors until the picture still reads clearly; every color is another bobbin or skein to manage.
The yarn palette snaps colors to a set of 24 common solid yarn shades. Switch to Auto to keep the exact picture colors, or to Custom to enter the shades from your stash.
Tips
- Fewer colors = fewer bobbins
- Use Remove confetti: Strong for photos
- Print the letter chart to tick off squares
