2800 × 2070 mm board cutting optimiser

2800 × 2070 mm (5.8 m²) is the large-format size used for melamine-faced chipboard, MDF and some decor boards in Europe. Kitchen and wardrobe makers buy it because a single board holds a whole cabinet or more.

At almost 6 m² and 70–90 kg for an 18 mm board, these panels are cut on a sliding table saw or beam saw, usually by the supplier. The optimizer gives them exactly what they need: a list of boards, a numbered sequence of through cuts and a layout drawing for each board.

Factory edges on large boards are often damaged in transport, so set an edge trim of about 10 mm. Melamine also chips easily; a scoring blade or a fine triple-chip-grind blade gives clean edges, and the kerf is typically 3.2–4.4 mm on panel saws.

Decor boards with a wood pattern have a direction just like real veneer. Tick Grain on stock with a woodgrain decor and on parts whose pattern must run vertically; plain colors can be rotated freely for better yield.

How many strips fit on a 2800×2070 sheet?

Full-length rips across the 2070 mm width, and crosscut strips across the 2800 mm length, with a 3.2 mm kerf.

How many parts fit on one sheet?

Calculated with the optimizer for a single sheet, 3.2 mm kerf and straight through-cuts. "Grain locked" keeps the part length along the sheet length; "rotation allowed" applies to MDF, melamine and hidden parts.

What are the dimensions of a 2800×2070 sheet?

2800 × 2070 mm (110.2 × 81.5 in), an area of 5.80 m² (62.4 sq ft).

How many 300 mm strips can I rip from a 2800×2070 sheet?

6 full-length strips with a 3.2 mm kerf. The last strip needs no cut, and the leftover is 254 mm.

How many base cabinet side fit on one 2800×2070 sheet?

9 with the grain locked, or 11 if the parts may rotate (720 mm × 560 mm parts, 3.2 mm kerf, straight through-cuts).

Which way does the grain run on a 2800×2070 sheet?

On veneered plywood the face grain normally runs along the 2800 mm length.
