Pixel art on Bedrock Edition

Pixel art uses the same blocks on Bedrock and Java: wool, concrete and terracotta have the same 16 dye colors, and a 64 × 64 wall needs exactly the same 4,096 blocks. Build it by hand from the row guide, or in Creative mode where you have every block available.

Bedrock does not read Java .schem files directly. Use the PNG with grid and coordinates as your blueprint, or the CSV material list to plan gathering. Bedrock’s own structure format (.mcstructure) is on our roadmap.

Map art works on Bedrock too: locator-free maps (“Empty Map” without a compass) show block colors from above, and staircasing changes shading like on Java. Some map colors are displayed slightly differently on Bedrock, so make a test map of a small area before committing to a huge build.

On consoles and mobile, building large art is slower — keep sizes modest (32 × 32 to 64 × 64) or use Creative mode, and use the coordinates overlay (toggle with the Show Coordinates world option) to stay aligned.

How to make Minecraft pixel art from an image

  1. Add your image. Click Upload image, drag a file onto the preview, or paste with Ctrl/⌘+V. PNG transparency becomes air.
  2. Pick blocks and size. Choose wool, concrete, terracotta, all full blocks or map art, then a width in blocks (or a number of maps).
  3. Check the material list. See every block with its count in stacks and shulker boxes. Click a block to exclude it and re-match the image.
  4. Build row by row. Use the row guide and the grid with coordinates, or export a PNG, a CSV list or a .schem file for WorldEdit.

FAQ

Does it work for Bedrock Edition?

Yes. The palettes, block counts and row guide are the same on Bedrock and Java. The .schem schematic export is for Java mods such as WorldEdit; Bedrock players build from the grid PNG and row guide.

How many blocks do I need?

One block per pixel: width × height. A 64 × 64 build needs 4,096 blocks — 64 stacks, or about 2.4 shulker boxes. The material list shows the exact count for every block, split into shulker boxes, stacks and leftover blocks.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your image never leaves your device, and there is no account or watermark.
