Minecraft map art colors
The 59 map colors the map art generator uses, each with its three survival-obtainable shades and one block that produces it.
Shades are the base color multiplied by 180/255 (dark), 220/255 (normal), 255/255 (light). A block shows the light shade when it is higher than the block to its north, normal when level, and dark when lower. Flat map art uses only the normal shade. Values follow the map color table documented by the Minecraft community wiki; water and non-full blocks are left out.

Why so few colors?
Maps don’t show block textures; each block contributes a single map color, and many blocks share one. That’s why map art needs a different palette from wall pixel art, and why staircasing — which triples the shades — makes such a difference. See staircase vs flat.
