About wool pixel art
Wool has the softest, most saturated colors of the three dye-able block families. It is ideal for cartoon characters, game sprites, logos and flags — anything with flat areas of bright color. Because every wool color comes from one white wool plus one dye, a single sheep farm and a few flower or cactus farms can supply an entire build.
The downside is fire: wool is flammable, so keep lava, lightning rods and fire charges away from big wool walls, and avoid wool for map art next to the Nether roof. In multiplayer, wool is also easy for griefers to break by hand. For permanent builds, consider concrete; for survival speed, wool is hard to beat.
Shears break wool instantly, which makes fixing mistakes painless. Build bottom-up with the row guide below and keep a stack of every color in your hotbar rotation.
